About Us

The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
This is something that our Unit strives to acheive through an active and enjoyable programme of activities.

Unit history
The Unit was originally named Ayers Venture Scout Unit, formed in 1992 by Eddie Ward, and was named after the late Donald Ayers. It became Ayers Explorer Scout Unit in 2003 when age ranges were reorganised.
Testimonials
"Ayers Explorer Scout Unit has gone from strength to strength in recent years, not only continually increasing membership numbers but also increasing, and improving, the range and quality of activities offered to members. A quick glance at any of their recent programmes will fully support this."
Adam Dickinson, Scout Development Officer
